An exhibition at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido, presented as part of the Art in Nature Alliance, pairing pre–WWII plein-air landscapes with works by contemporary painters to explore the ongoing vitality of Southern California’s landscape tradition. The design work for this project included the full exhibition catalog along with a digital catalog edition. The publication’s visual approach drew from the natural luminosity of the artworks, incorporating vibrant color accents, atmospheric typography, and full-bleed detail spreads to create a harmonious balance between historical material and contemporary practice.
